Today I was studying a verse. 1 John 3:6 goes like this:
Whosoever abideth in him, sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
My initial thought was rather disturbing. It seems to be saying that if we sin, we're not saved. Any red blooded person that is still alive knows that even after getting saved, we still sin from time to time.
I came back and revisited this
sinning and abiding
Funny that you would post this today as, just this morning, a women's Bible Study group asked me to join them because they were studying this very passage and were having some of the same issue you were with it.
One of the things that I pointed out to them was right before there where it gets into the practice of sinning. The idea there is this, "willful, intentional, rebellious, embrace over time" kind of sin.
Another thought there is that, because of Christ, you don't sin anymore, at least not from an eternal perspective.
Just a couple more thoughts to toss into the mix.
